Even if your life is blissfully untouched by childbirth, you’ll have a rough idea about what the process entails.
Every once in a while, however, someone kindly gives us an unflinching, unfiltered, unedited glimpse at what actually goes down during labour.
Take cervix dilation, for example.
You’ve probably not actually seen what a dilating cervix looks like during childbirth.
If you have given birth, you’d have been busy concentrating on the task at hand. If you’ve not given birth, then the cervix is not likely to be something you dwell on.
But one Detroit woman has provided us with a centimetre-by-centimetre look at what it does in labour. And once you see it…
Stephanie Christi’an posted a photo of a dilation chart on Facebook and captioned it with: “This is what 10cm of dilation looks like. This is why we deserve all the things.”
She’s not wrong.
As you can see, even at 10cm dilated when you really start to push, the baby’s head is still too big.
Which is where things can get really messy.
Stephanie’s post as attracted a LOT of attention. As one woman wrote on Twitter:
“My mom pushed all 3 of us out. I need to thank her again, especially for my big headed little brother.”
